Valrhona


Valrhona is the French giant in the small world of fine chocolate. Thanks to their first “Grand Cru” chocolate bar Guanaja, crafted in 1986, the fine chocolate revolution began to take shape and a trail was blazed for future micro-batch makers who wanted to work with fine flavor beans.

Based in Tain-l’Hermitage near Lyon, the company was founded in 1922 and adopted the name Valrhona in 1947 in homage to its location in the Rhône Valley.

Since January 2020, Valrhona has been a proud member of the B Corp community. This certification is reserved for the world’s most ethically committed companies whose mission is to create a positive social and environmental impact. Valrhona has pledged to create a fairer and more sustainable cocoa industry that makes the world a better place. Their mission includes improving the living and working conditions of farmers, protecting the environment and preserving the soil so that fine flavor cacao beans can continue to flourish.
