Cuna de Piedra

Cuna de Piedra means “cradle of stone” in Spanish, and indeed, as my mentor Maricel Presilla says, “Where there is cacao, there is life!” In fact, Mexico is sometimes called “the cradle of cacao” and the metate (a stone hand grinder) has always been the traditional Mexican cook’s tool for preparing foods such as cacao. The image of a metate is featured on the bar’s packaging.

Cuna de Piedra founders Vicky Gonzalez (a designer and brand strategist) and Enrique Perez (a food processing engineer) respectfully chose the company’s name and are proud to present fine chocolate that is 100% Mexican. Typically sourcing cacao from farmers who ferment their own beans, this dynamic duo celebrates Mexico’s bounty.
