Absolutely yummy! With plenty of toasty, caramelized hazelnuts for you to sink your sweet tooth into, this bar is addictive. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! The chocolate, made from Ecuadorian beans from Hacienda San Jose, has a nutty flavor profile with notes of bread and malt. The inclusion of roughly chopped hazelnuts elevates this darling rectangle so that it becomes a nut-lover’s paradise. Josh calls his chocolate “approachable” and I heartily concur. It’s very accessible to the palate and well-suited to all chocolate lovers…rookies, kids and connoisseurs!
Josh McCain of Josh Chocolates is a local gem. Like me, he lives and works in New Jersey, and I’m so glad he’s my friend! Josh is both a bean-to-bar maker, as well as a chocolatier. He is a classically trained chef as well as a graduate of the pastry program at the Institute of Culinary Education in NYC. He has worked in some of New York City’s finest restaurants including Loring Place and Union Square Hospitality Group.
Josh started his own chocolate company in March 2021 and I’m super excited to enjoy more of his yummy creations as his chocolate path continues to unfold. Fun fact about Josh: he is a 19-year military veteran with multiple combat deployments and recipient of the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medals. He’s raising four young boys with his fiancé by his side, and when he’s not playing with chocolate or kids, he’s training for triathlons!
