Attention Nut Lovers!

Cozy, toasty hazelnuts take on layers and layers of bean-to-bar milk chocolate to create a luxurious snack. If you’re seeking a great gift this holiday season, look no further…but act fast as there is limited quantity in stock. Remember to score one for yourself while shopping for others!

No surprise…these Caramelized Hazelnuts in Milk Chocolate won the Silver Medal in the International Chocolate Awards Silver competition.

French Broad Sea Salt 75% Dark Chocolate Mini Bar is made with Nicaraguan cacao and boasts notes of peanut butter, jammy fruit and toasted, buttered biscuit. These flavors are emphasized by delicate flakes of mineral salt from Bulls Bay Saltworks sprinkled on the bar's surface. Bulls Bay sources their salt from the protected Cape Romaine National Wildlife Refuge in South Carolina, one of the healthiest saltwater ecosystems along the east coast. This deeply satisfying bar is sure to please your sweet tooth and your salty one, too!

The creators of French Broad Chocolate, Dan and Jael Rattigan, met at a wedding in 2003. They fell in love, got married, traveled to Costa Rica together, and decided that they wanted to live there. They packed their lives into a 40-foot vegetable oil-powered school bus (converted by Dan), and drove south to Costa Rica where they bought an abandoned cacao plantation and opened a cafe and dessert shop called Bread & Chocolate.

Eventually they sold the cafe to one of their cooks and returned to the United States, choosing Asheville, North Carolina as their new home. Dan and Jael started making chocolate on a tiny scale in their kitchen. They opened a small Chocolate Lounge in 2008 which they outgrew and traded in for a larger Chocolate Factory and Tasting Room. Now the Rattigans and their team operate out of 14,000 square-foot space and churn out nearly 50 tons of chocolate each year. They also have a creamery where they make luscious ice cream from local ingredients.

French Broad Chocolate became a Certified B Corporation in 2017, a distinction that involves a rigorous application process. Only those companies who are dedicated to improving the quality of life in their communities through business are recognized and selected. French Broad is committed to social and environmental ethics, transparency and accountability. In short, Dan and Jael have dedicated themselves to making and selling fine chocolate and treats as a force for good; that means direct-sourcing of cacao from farmers they know and trust, relying on local ingredients, using eco-friendly packaging materials, composting food waste and paying employees fair wages.
